Comparison of proposals for revision of existing Australian and European chemicals classification and hazard communication systems
In early 2007, DEWR gave a commitment to undertake an analysis of the EC's final proposal for GHS implementation, in particular focussing on classification criteria and scope of coverage of the proposed Australian workplace chemicals framework compared to the GHS and EC proposals. The EC released their GHS proposal on 26 June 2007.
This analysis has largely been completed now. Below are links to 2 documents.
Part A gives a comparison of the scope of coverage and labelling requirements of the EC GHS proposal, the proposed Australian workplace chemicals framework based on the GHS, and existing workplace chemicals requirements.
Part B compares the classification criteria for health effects for the GHS, the EC proposal and the Approved Criteria.
