Business Entry Point Via Internet - Occupational Health and Safety Module
Occupational health and safety (OHS) information for small business is now readily accessible through the recently launched Business Entry Point.
The Business Entry Point enables small business easy access to government information through the Web site www.business.gov.au
The OHS information can be accessed through this site or through the National Occupational Health and Safety (NOHSC) Web site at www.worksafe.gov.au/smallbusiness/protect/ohs
The OHS module on the site was developed by NOHSC in conjunction with AusIndustry.
The initiative grew out of the Prime Minister’s More Time for Business report which identified red tape as an impediment for business dealing with government and included information on OHS as a priority area for inclusion in the Business Entry Point.
The OHS module provides plain-english OHS information to small business operators and their advisers. Information on significant hazards for the following six industry groups is included in the module:
- Cafes and Restaurants
- Grocery Stores
- House Construction
- Meat Products
- Nursing Homes
- Wood and Wood Products.
The module also provides accessible information on topics such as:
- The benefits of a proactive approach to health and safety.
- Health and safety laws explained.
- Getting started with an OHS Program.
- Information on dealing with hazards which are common in most workplaces.
