Chairman Launches NOHSC Online Statistics Interactive
The National Occupational Health and Safety Commission (NOHSC) Chairman, Professor Dennis Else, today launched the NOHSC Online Statistics Interactive - NOSI
NOSI is a web based interactive statistics database, which is located at www.nohsc.gov.au/work/statistics/. It contains national workers' compensation statistics based on the National Data Set (NDS). Users can interrogate the database to provide a variety of reports to their own design on the number, incidence and frequency of workers' compensation claims in Australia. .
Speaking at the launch, Professor Else said: "The database will provide better access to OHS statistics and is targeted at major OHS stakeholders. It will provide injury data to your design at your fingertips. As far as I am aware, this is a world first for such a database.
"NOSI provides Australia with a key data collection - one of the nine actions identified in the National OHS Improvement Framework."
The National Occupational Health and Safety Commission (NOHSC) is to review the Framework and provide annual reports to the December meeting of the Workplace Relations Ministers' Council on activities improving the national OHS infrastructure. NOHSC welcomes critical and instructive feedback on the Framework.
To run a query on NOSI users follow several steps clearly detailed on the site.
Copies of the National OHS Improvement Framework and NOHSC Strategic Plan 2000-2003 can be downloaded from the NOHSC web site.
