Australian Country Choice is Queensland’s largest privately owned agribusiness, employing more than 760 people across cattle breeding and backgrounding properties, feedlot operations and at a state of the art meat processing facility in Brisbane.
Australian Country Choice supplies the Coles Group with over 50 per cent of its prime beef and veal needs Australia-wide, through a fully integrated system which embraces a ‘plate to paddock’ philosophy.
The meat processing facility in Brisbane employs approximately 700 people in slaughtering, boning and retail packaging operations. Each week Australian Country Choice produces over 1.4 million kilograms of processed, value-added and retail ready beef and veal products for the Coles Group.
Its occupational health and safety management system involves a suite of policies and procedures which are aligned with the company’s totally integrated management system.
The Australian Country Choice executive has an inherent desire to manage safety to the best standards and to develop a safety management system which addresses the needs of a growing business, advances employee wellbeing, meets legislative requirements and fosters the philosophy of excellence.
The Executive Group has encouraged and embraced a two tiered safety committee structure to ensure that all employees have a voice and a forum to raise matters of concern, and are involved in the consultative process used to identify and manage hazards and offer their expertise on work matters.
