Dr Yossi Berger Australian Workers Union (Victoria)

Dr Berger has been actively involved working in OHS for approximately 18 years. He worked in the ACTU/VTHC OHS Unit and more recently was the OHS Officer and Director of the Australian Workers’ Union National OHS Unit.
Dr Berger is a major contributor to the body of knowledge about health and safety through his research and writings. He has influenced OHS legislation and standards throughout his career, and has made significant contributions specifically to the field of exposure standards and the working environment. One example of Dr Berger’s contribution is his authorship of the first guide for safer work with synthetic mineral fibres, which was subsequently built upon to establish a National Standard, which remains in place to this day.
Dr Berger is sought after both in Australia and internationally as a speaker and teacher. He is renowned for his tenacity and persistence in relation to issues that he considers important. During the Beaconsfield mine disaster, Dr Berger was the expert health and safety spokesperson.
