Mr Robert Petrovski TNT Australia (NSW)
Category 5: Best individual contribution to workplace health and safety
Robert Petrovski is a delivery van driver employed at TNT’s Mascot depot. Robert became involved in OHS early in his employment, and in 2002 was elected by his peers as the Mascot OHS Driver representative and Committee Chairperson, a role that he continues today. TNT nominated Robert for this award in recognition of his substantial individual contribution to safety through leadership and influencing the right behaviours. This effort and diligence surpasses expectations of what would normally be expected from an OHS representative, and the result has been beneficial to Robert and his colleagues, management and TNT express.
Robert’s major health and safety achievements/contributions are demonstrated by his involvement in such activities as:
- enforcement of the application of heavy item warning sticker labels to freight weighing over 20kg
- establishment of a flood contingency plan
- establishment of the Mascot depot traffic management team
- issuing of sun block to drivers as protection against UV radiation
- initiation of regular safety meetings between neighbouring companies
- initiation of monthly safety newsletter, and toolbox talks, for distribution to all employees, and
- conducting regular safety checks and risk assessments.
