Scaffold Services Tasmania Pty Ltd is a division of the Dowling Group of companies which has been operating for 20 years, owned and operated by Tasmanians. It offers services to Tasmania for coordinating and contracting the hire of labour and scaffolding on all construction, commercial and domestic sites.
Scaffold Services Tasmania acknowledges the requirements of safety in the scaffolding industry as top priority, hence their aim is to change this outlook and to promote safe erection, use and dismantle of all scaffolds that they supply. Scaffold Services Tasmania aims to do this by emphasising safety as a first priority on all projects undertaken with an aim of zero injury rate. It has a full safety program in place and prepares safety management plans to comply with client and state occupational health and safety requirements and guidelines.
The organisation identified significant inconsistencies in scaffolding practices particularly with new employees who were supposedly “ticketed” to the same standard. As a result the organisation developed an induction program to establish appropriate standards and a benchmark to be applied to all employees. This system trained the employees on company requirements, standards and expectations, consequently improving safety in the workplace.
