Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E)
The Executives (Board of Directors) and Senior Management Team of the Broome Port Authority are committed to the improvement and management of Health Safety and Environment (HS&E). Since conducting an internal audit the Port of Broome (POB), HS&E focus has included:
- Review and implementation of POB Safety Activity Plan
- Review and implementation of POB Data Base for recording injuries
- Review and development of the Safety Management Systems Manual
- Safety meetings
- Review and development of Job Safety Analysis Manual.
The POB is fully cognisant of the need for continued improvement in its Safety Management Systems due to the large increase in personnel numbers over recent years. The New Employee Induction process recently underwent a review to focus on the way the business now operates.
POB has a strong safety culture, beginning with management commitment, and this is evident with the POB enhancing supervisor and operator knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements with a strict training regime endorsed by the Board of Directors.
